Aspire has been a household name in the vaping scene for many years. Aspire were founded in 2013 and they specialise in everything from replacement coils to box mods and vape kits. One of the most known pieces of vape hardware from them is the Aspire Cleito which is still sold today and is loved by many.
Aspire released their original Minican last year and although it was a big hit, Aspire wanted to bring out a new version. The Minican was created as an ideal vape kit for new vapers looking for an easy-to-use all-in-one system and the Aspire Minican Plus is an updated Pod vape kit for anyone who prefers Mouth to Lung vaping.
The Minican + is a very simple device, there’s no wattage control, no airflow to adjust, it’s just remove pod, fill pod and vape. So if you’re new to vaping and want something that doesn’t require expert knowledge of vape devices, this could be the one for you. Let’s take a closer look at the Aspire Minican + to see whether it’s right for you.

Minican + Appearance & Design
The overall design of the Minican Plus is very different from the original, it's quite strange for a newer version to look so different, normally there's a few adjustments but this does look like a completely different device. Though when picking a device it's not always about how it looks, how a device performs is more important.
The Minican Plus is a thinner device than the original and as you can see it is a very small device. It is made of plastic and is semi transparent, the plastic feels like a good quality material and doesn't feel like it would crack if dropped, though we have not tested this. The semi transparent plastic is quite a quirky choice and I love it. Being able to see part of the internals is pretty cool and definitely makes it stand out especially when the internal light shows. It also comes with a lanyard which can be put on the device so that you can either carry it round your neck or even tie it to the loops in your jeans or trousers. As the device is quite small I like to do this to prevent losing it.
Batteries and Charging
Despite the Minican Plus being so small it has an incredible 850mAH battery. There are other all-in-one vape devices with a larger battery but when taking into account the size of this one, I'm still impressed. The battery itself should last you during the working day but if you were out for the whole day and night, it probably wouldn't last, battery duration also depends on how much you use it. If you work in an office or have access to a computer I would advise making sure that you keep it charged so that it doesn't die on you when you're on the go.
The charging port is found on the side of the device and the device does also come with a type-C Charging Cable.
Aspire Minican Plus Pods
The Aspire Minican Plus is a Pod device which can be refilled, the pod itself can hold up to 2ml of E Liquid which is TPD compliant. The Pods can be pulled out the top of the device and it is held into place with magnets built into the bottom of the pod. Next to the magnets you will find the fill port, this is sealed by a silicone bung. I'm not normally a fan of bottom fill on pods as I'm worried that it could leak but after using the Minican for a few days I didn't experience any problems.
The pods come with a 0.8ohm mesh coil, the coil is non replaceable which means that you do need to buy new pods if the coil burns out, we do also sell the replaceable pods and they are sold in packs of two. The kit does only come with one pod, so we would recommend buying the two packs at the same time just in case. Aspire Minican Replacement Pods
Due to the mesh coil having a resistance of 0.8 Ohm, it makes this pod kit ideal for MTL users. The best E Liquids to use with the Minican plus would be ones with a PG/VG ratio of 50/50, this will provide a more discreet vaping experience and you may also prefer to stick with Salt E Liquids.
Minican + Colours
We've established that the design is rather different to its predecessor. The Minican plus has a semi transparent plastic casing which I think the finishing effect looks pretty awesome.
There are five colours to choose from; Black, blue, green, orange and red.
How to use the Aspire Minican Plus?
This Aspire Pod vape device is designed to be a simple to use device of new starters. Once you have unpacked your vape kit. Simply remove the strip from the bottom of the Pod device, underneath you will see a silicon bung which can be popped open to expose the fill port. Fill the Pod up with your favourite vape juice, we would recommend leaving it for 10 minutes before using, this will allow plenty of time for the coils to soak up the E Liquid. If you do not leave enough time and start vaping before it is ready, you can end up ruining the coils which could lead to you getting a 'dry hit'. A dry hit can happen when the wick in your coil is not saturated with E Liquid.
Once you have waited the suggested time, all you need to do is inhale on the device. Most vape devices have a fire button which users need to press to activate the device but with the Aspire Minican + it has a built in smart auto fire system, similar to other vape pod devices, this technology is also being used in the new Disposable vape pens too. In the device there is a sensor which is triggered when it registers an inhale/ draw. The auto fire system is very popular as it works great with Mouth to Lung vaping style (also known as MTL) and it also feels more like a natural 'pull', which would suit an ex-smoker.
Aspire Minican Plus Performance
Aspire has decided to build the Minican Plus with no buttons which means it has a smart auto draw firing system built in. The device has a sensor inside which is able to detect when you are taking in a draw on the vape, this triggers the auto fire. This means that you can decide how long you want to inhale for. Though we would recommend not pulling on the device for too long as you don't want to run the risk of burning your coils.
The auto fire works very well and we tested it with salt nicotine E Liquids and the results were good, I did however find that it tasted better the second time refilling it. You get a nice smooth vape from it, the coil works well with wicking and it delivers a great taste, when testing the device we used Pod Salt Blackcurrant Menthol and Doozy Vape Apple & Grape Blast Nicsalts. The draw is quite loose though which I quite liked so that's something else to consider before purchasing.
Final Thoughts
I like the design of the vape, it's different to what you usually get and in ways I like that it's a small pod device, it fits easily in your pocket and the lanyard comes in handy. The Pods are easy to refill and there's been no leaks which is a massive plus. It's a shame that only one pod comes in the kit but replacement pods are pretty cheap so that's not really an issue. The vape experience is good and flavours pull through well after the second refill.
If I could make a change to the device, I would wish that there was an indicator of some type to show the device's battery life. Overall it's a pretty cool piece of kit, it's very easy to use which makes them a great shout for new vapers. It's compact enough for taking out on a night out without having to worry about carrying lots of stuff in your pockets but if you're someone who's out for the majority of the day/ night, you will need to make sure you charge it up.
